Expect dramatic scenery featuring twin peaks of Jomolhari, Jichu Drakye, and Tsering Kang, along with vast glacial valleys, Rhododendron forests, and remote yak herder camps.
Day 1: – Paro – Drukgyel Dzong – Shana Zampa (2,850m / 9,348 ft)
– Begin your trek from Drukgyel Dzong, a historic ruin at the head of the Paro valley
– Trek along the Paro Chhu (river), crossing wooden bridges and forest trails
– Camp at Shana Zampa
Day 2: – Shana Zampa – Thang Thangka (4,100m / 11,808 ft)
– Challenging trek through mixed forests and ridges
– Reach Thang Thangka, a scenic meadow with the first glimpse of Mt. Jomolhari
Day 3: – Thang Thangka – Jangothang (4,100m / 13,448 ft)
– Trek through yak pastures and tiny villages
– Camp below Jomolhari’s imposing glacier—one of the trek’s highlights
Day 4: – Acclimatization Day at Jangothang
– Take short hikes to nearby ridges and lakes for better acclimatization
– Optional hike to Jichu Drakye base camp or Tshophu Lake
– Enjoy panoramic views of snow-covered peaks
Day 5: – Jangothang – Lingshi via Nyile La Pass
– Trek over alpine tundra and moraines
– Cross Nyile La Pass (4,870m) and descend into the Lingshi valley
– Camp at Chha Shi Thang (4,010m / 13,153 ft)
Day 6: – Chha Shi Thang – Shodu via Yeli La Pass
– Cross Yeli La Pass (4,950m / 16,236 ft), the highest point on the trek
– Steep descent through high-mountain terrain into forests
– Camp at Shodu
Day 7: – Shodu – Barshong
– Continue descending through fir forests, waterfalls, and clear streams
– Arrive at the campsite below Barshong Dzong
Day 8: – Barshong – Dolam Kencho
– Gradual descent through mixed forest and bamboo groves
– Camp at Dolam Kencho
Day 9:– Dolam Kencho – Dodina – Drive to Thimphu
– Final leg of the trek, emerging at Dodina
– Drive to Thimphu and check in to hotel for a well-earned rest
Day 10: – Thimphu Sightseeing or Departure
– Optional sightseeing of Thimphu's main attractions
– Or transfer to airport for departure via Paro
